Privacy notice

This privacy notice explains how this site handles data, and your rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). In short: we keep the site deliberately privacy-light, and we do not collect or store personal information about you.

Who is responsible

This site is an independent civic campaign maintained by residents of Pinelands. For the purposes of POPIA, the responsible party can be contacted at info@pinelandsmowbray.org.za. The site carries no political affiliation or corporate backing.

What we collect

We use Vercel Web Analytics, which is cookieless and privacy-first. It records aggregate, anonymised page views and a small number of anonymous interaction events (for example, that an "object" button was clicked), so we can understand in aggregate how the campaign is being used. It does not set tracking cookies, does not store your IP address, and does not build advertising or identity profiles. We run no third-party advertising or tracking.

We do not ask for, collect or store your name, email address or any account details.

When you object

When you send an objection, you do so from your own email application, directly to the City of Cape Town and its consultants. We do not receive, see or store the contents of your objection or your email address. The objection email addresses shown on this site belong to the City and its appointed consultants, not to us.

Sharing

We do not sell, rent or share personal information. The anonymous, aggregate analytics described above are processed by Vercel, which hosts this site and provides its analytics.

Your rights

Under POPIA you have the right to ask what personal information, if any, we hold about you, to ask us to correct or delete it, and to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za). Because we hold no information that identifies individual visitors, in most cases there will be nothing to access or correct.

If you believe anything on this site is inaccurate, or you are referred to and wish to respond, please contact us at info@pinelandsmowbray.org.za. We correct genuine errors promptly and will offer a fair right of reply. This site publishes opinion and commentary on a matter of public interest and makes no allegation of unlawful conduct by any named individual.
